Gutoptim Probiotics: One Species, No Strain and No CFU Count

Gutoptim contains one probiotic, Lactobacillus acidophilus, inside a 1.5 g proprietary blend. The label gives no strain name and no CFU count. Probiotic effects are strain-specific, and the positive IBS trial used the DDS-1 strain at 10 billion CFU a day, so Gutoptim cannot be matched to it. The rest of the formula is mostly fiber and clay.

Part of our Gutoptim overview. Last checked October 19, 2026.

Gutoptim probiotics amount to a single species, Lactobacillus acidophilus, listed eighth in a 1.5 g proprietary blend with no strain name and no CFU count[1]. That matters because probiotic results belong to specific strains. The one large IBS trial for this species used the DDS-1 strain at 10 billion CFU a day for 6 weeks[4], and nothing on the Gutoptim label shows it matches.

What probiotics are in Gutoptim?

Only one: Lactobacillus acidophilus, with no strain and no count. The vendor sells Gutoptim as a "synbiotic" formula[2], meaning probiotic plus fiber, and the fiber part is real: psyllium, oat bran, flaxseed, apple pectin and glucomannan.

The probiotic part is thin. A label that says only "Lactobacillus acidophilus" tells you the species, not which of many strains is inside or how many live organisms each capsule holds. The NCCIH says the effects of one probiotic strain do not carry over to another[3].

With the strain and count unknown, Gutoptim cannot borrow the results of any probiotic trial. Most of what you swallow is fiber and clay, which our Gutoptim ingredients page covers item by item.

What do the facts show?

The label leaves out the three facts a probiotic buyer needs: strain, count and the trial that matches them. The research for L. acidophilus is strain-specific and mostly in people with IBS.

What the trials found

  • DDS-1 in IBS: in 330 adults with IBS, L. acidophilus DDS-1 at 10 billion CFU a day for 6 weeks cut abdominal pain scores by 2.59 points vs placebo, with 52.3% responders[4].
  • LA-5 plus B. lactis BB-12: in non-constipated IBS, global response was 19.3% vs 8.9% at day 28[5]. That is a two-organism product, not L. acidophilus alone.
  • Other trials: one tested strain ATCC 700396 at 1 billion CFU twice daily in an E. coli challenge[6]; another tested fermented milk with L. casei for antibiotic-linked diarrhea[7]. Neither maps onto Gutoptim.

The fiber side of "synbiotic"

Fiber can feed gut bacteria. In one 87-person IBS-D trial in China, pectin raised fecal bifidobacteria and lowered symptom scores[8], but the pectin dose is not stated in the abstract and Gutoptim's share is unknown.

How to take Gutoptim if you try it

The label says adults take two capsules daily with a meal[1]. The vendor's FAQ instead says two capsules with a big glass of water in the morning[9]. Both point to the same rule that matters most: take every dose with at least a full glass of liquid, because the label warns of choking from the fiber.

  • One bottle holds 60 capsules, which is 30 servings or 30 days.
  • Take it at least 3 hours apart from digoxin, aspirin or nitrofurantoin, per MedlinePlus guidance on psyllium[10].
  • Do not take the capsules dry, lying down or if you have trouble swallowing.

Because the probiotic count is unknown, taking more capsules does not give you a known probiotic dose. It only adds more fiber and clay, so stay at the label amount. If your stools change sharply or you feel bloated for more than a few days, stop and talk to a doctor.

Safety

Probiotics usually cause only mild gut effects in healthy people. The NCCIH reports severe or fatal infections in premature infants given probiotics and advises caution for people who are immunocompromised or seriously ill[3]. The label also excludes anyone under 18, pregnant or nursing[1]. See a doctor right away if you get a fever, chills or severe belly pain while taking any probiotic, especially with a weak immune system.

What should you check before buying?

If the probiotic is why you are looking at Gutoptim, check these first:

  1. Strain and CFU: email contact@gutoptim-product.com and ask for the strain name and CFU count per serving. Without both, no trial applies.
  2. Your goal: the best L. acidophilus data is for IBS pain with DDS-1. A product that names that strain and dose is a closer match.
  3. Immune status: ask a doctor first if you are immunocompromised or seriously ill.
  4. Other contents: the capsule is gelatin, and the blend includes walnut and bentonite clay. Read our Gutoptim bentonite clay safety page.
  5. Price per serving: $69 for one bottle of 30 servings, checked October 19, 2026, price shown before tax. See Gutoptim price and refund terms.
  6. The label you receive: some third-party pages list Gutoptim ingredients without psyllium. Compare the supplement facts panel on your bottle with the vendor label we read on October 19, 2026, and ask the vendor about any difference.
  7. Refund terms: the 60-day window starts at delivery, every bottle must go back with the packing slip, and you pay return shipping. Decide inside that window.

Our take

Gutoptim is a fiber capsule with a probiotic name on the label, not a probiotic product you can check against research. One species, no strain and no count means the IBS results for DDS-1 do not transfer. If gut bacteria are your main interest, a probiotic that prints its strain and CFU, matched to a trial in people like you, is the better test. If you still want to try Gutoptim, the 60-day refund runs from delivery and requires mailing back every bottle. Whether the product works overall is covered on our does Gutoptim work page.

Frequently asked questions

Does Gutoptim have probiotics in it?

Yes, one: Lactobacillus acidophilus, listed inside a 1.5 g proprietary blend. The label gives no strain name and no CFU count, so you cannot tell how many live organisms a serving holds or match it to any clinical trial.

How many CFU are in Gutoptim?

The label does not say. No CFU count appears anywhere on the vendor's supplement facts panel. For comparison, the positive IBS trial for L. acidophilus DDS-1 used 10 billion CFU a day for 6 weeks.

Is Gutoptim a synbiotic?

The vendor calls it one because it combines fibers with a probiotic. The fibers are listed, including psyllium, oat bran, apple pectin and glucomannan, but the single probiotic has no strain or count, so the probiotic half cannot be checked.

Can I take Gutoptim with another probiotic?

No study has tested that combination. Because Gutoptim's probiotic dose is unknown, it adds little you can measure. Ask a doctor first if you are immunocompromised or seriously ill, since the NCCIH advises caution with probiotics in those groups.

How do you take Gutoptim?

The label says adults take two capsules daily with a meal, and the vendor FAQ suggests mornings with a big glass of water. Always use at least a full glass of liquid, since the label warns of choking. One bottle lasts 30 days.
